Introduction
SAHI stands for Society to Aid the Hearing Impaired. It is an Indian NGO that strives to help poor children with hearing impairment.
The society seeks to identify children mainly in rural areas with little or no access to modern medical treatment. It is a well-known fact that as children grow and develop they learn about sound with little effort. But it can be a daunting task for a child with hearing impairment to understand sounds and develop language & communication skills, which in turn affects his personal development and process of reasoning and education.
Is it right to deny a child the right to hear because he cannot afford the treatment?
SAHI, a group of Medical professionals & concerned citizens comes forward to address this problem.
